Common Frequencies is a sound and visual platform that gathers artistic practices intersecting sonic, environmental, natural, ancestral, and interspecies relations.

The platform is based on www.commonfrequencies.net and expands to in-person exhibitions, listening sessions, performances, workshops, and other forms of presentation. Common Frequencies stemmed from an exhibition with the same name, presented at BioBAT Art Space from May 1 to October 17, 2021. This initial exhibition showcased the works of Marcela Armas, Lorena Mal, Gilberto Esparza, Tania Candiani, and Interspecifics and a series of collaborations with local institutions and artists.

Sound is one of the main ways in which living beings experience their position in relation to others in the world. This idea prompted this platform. This sonic premise has allowed Common Frequencies to establish a commonality threaded by sound and visual artworks that will expand the perception of interspecies relations and emphasize the importance of multidisciplinary practices for active listening and invention to envision new collaborative systems.
