Virtual Workshop
12 a 14 hrs (EST)
Enero 30 & 31 2021
Common Frequencies, BioBAT Art Space and Genspace are excited to present Almost non-human, a writing workshop by Interspecifics, aimed at young students between 13 and 17 y/o who have interest in science and arts.
The 4 hour workshop, divided in two days, will consist of an exploration of different microbes to develop a first-person narration, using techniques from science fiction and futurism, coined by Cyberpunk. The participants will imagine how the last 24 hours of this species on the planet would be and what would be its relationship with the human being they inhabit.
Interspecifics will use the results of this workshop to create a collaborative piece to be presented as part of the Common Frequencies exhibition at BioBAT Art Space, in May 2021.
Interspecifics is an Independent artistic research bureau founded in Mexico City in 2013. They have focused their research on the use of sound and AI, to explore patterns emerging from biosignals and the morphology of different living organisms as a potential form of non-human communication.
Genspace is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting science literacy through citizen access to biotechnology. We provide STEM educational outreach, cultural events, and a platform for science innovation at the grassroots level.
